Movie Title: The Katy Universe

You know that gripping egad to call that one person, when you get drunk or high and pour out your soul to, and talk about every stupid decision you have ever made in your life? That's Katy in this story. The "prudes" can't relate, I know, no need to tell me twice.

Directed and written by, Patrick Muhlberger, and produced by Sarah Harber, they tell the story of Katy who has an existential life crisis, after hearing a story she heard at a wedding she attended, which sends her spiralling downhill, causing her to drink and doing coke, which causes her to mentally breakdown and making her think she gained super powers.

Mary Holland, gives a striking performance playing our hero, in The Katy Universe as she pours out here worries and fears to the voicemail box of her ex Ryan. Which I bet she wouldn't have gotten the courage to do so if she was sober. The fact that he didn't pick up the call empowered her to vent out her feelings she has kept bottled up, who knows for how long.
Amped with drugs, we hear Katy's view of human existence as a tiny speck in the universe at large, and how our struggles and plans for our lives are nothing that matters, because we are limited by the natural rules of this world. Katy's breakdown, had a comic twist to it, but her message is a profound one. It's relatable because, it bothers on our fears as humans. I relate to it, because I have such fears once In a while.

Muhlberger tells his story, using a single set, which is well designed to tell the story, the movie is an action film featuring, the superpower telekinesis, a superpower that I think is made up in her mind due to the drugs she took and the mental breakdown she has. At a point she, realizes she is having a panic attack but she is far too gone in her mind as she acts on impulse. We see her being stopped by security, but Katy is a force, and they don't have it easy to calm her down.
The, camera work is a combination of very long shots, long shots medium long shots, medium shots to compensate for this action packed short film. It's has a combination of "show don't tell" and monologue to communicate with the audience.
In conclusion, The Katy Universe, tells a story of our everyday fears, and the heaviness of the burdens that each one of us carries, it also shows us the thin line between a sound mind and insanity.
